Αγαπητά μέλη της Ελληνικής Ορθόδοξης Κοινότητας του Leeds και περιχώρων, με βαριά καρδιά σας ανακοινώνουμε το θάνατο του αγαπητού μας Επίτιμου Προέδρου κυρίου Αντώνη Παύλου. Ο κύριος Παύλου απεβίωσε την Δευτέρα 25 Σεπτεμβρίου 2023 μετά από σύντομη ασθένεια.

Ο Αντώνης Παύλου κατάγονταν από το χωριό Άγιοι Βαβατσινιάς, της επαρχίας Λάρνακας. Ζούσε με την οικογένειά του στο York όπου και ανέπτυξε τις επιχειρηματικές του δραστηριότητες. Ασχολήθηκε για πολλά χρόνια με την διοίκηση της Κοινότητάς μας ως μέλος, Αντιπρόεδρος και μετέπειτα (1999 μέχρι 2005) ως Πρόεδρος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου και ως ένας από τους Κηδεμόνες της Κοινότητας. Το 2010 το ΔΣ εξέλεξε παμψηφεί τον κ Παύλου στη θέση του Επίτιμου Προέδρου της Κοινότητας. Ο κ Παύλου ποτέ δεν έπαψε να ενδιαφέρεται και να ασχολείται με την Κοινότητά μας, ακόμη κι όταν η ασθένεια του στέρησε τις σωματικές δυνάμεις προς το τέλος της ζωής του.

Στέλνουμε, εκ μέρους όλων σας, τα θερμά μας συλλυπητήρια στην σύζυγό του κυρία Δήμητρα, στα παιδιά του Τασούλα, Παύλο, και Γιώργο, και στα υπόλοιπα μέλη της οικογένειας. Θα ανακοινώσουμε τα της κηδείας όταν ενημερωθούμε από την οικογένεια του εκλιπόντος.

Η νεκρώσιμη ακολουθία για τον κ. Αντώνη Παύλου θα τελεστεί τη Δευτέρα 9 Οκτωβρίου 2023 @ 10:30 π.μ., στην Ελληνική Ορθόδοξη Εκκλησία των Τριών Ιεραρχών, 57 Harehills Avenue, Leeds, LS8 4EU. Μετά τη εξόδιο ακολουθία θα ακολουθήσει η παρηγοριά στην αίθουσα της Εκκλησίας.

Ο Τόνης δεν αγαπούσε τίποτα περισσότερο από το να έχει τους φίλους και την οικογένειά του μαζί, γι 'αυτό σας παρακαλούμε ελάτε μαζί μας αυτή την ημέρα καθώς γιορτάζουμε τη ζωή του.

Η ταφή θα γίνει στο νεκροταφείο Haxby and Wigginton, Moor Lane, Haxby, York, YO32 2NQ περίπου στις 2:30 μ.μ.

Dear members of the Greek Orthodox Community of Leeds and surrounding areas, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear Honorary President Mr Antonis Pavlou. Mr Pavlou passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 after a short illness.

Antonis Pavlou came from the village of Agioi Vavatsinias, in the Larnaka district. He lived with his family in York where he developed his business activities. He was involved for many years in the administration of our Community as a member, Vice-President and later (1999 to 2005) as President of the Executive Committee and as one of the Trustees of the Community. In 2010 the Executive Committee unanimously elected Mr Pavlou as Honorary President of our Community. Mr Pavlou never ceased to be interested and involved in our Community, even when illness deprived him of physical strength towards the end of his life.

We send, on behalf of all of you, our heartfelt condolences to his wife Mrs Dimitra, his children Tasoulla, Paul, and George, and the rest of the family members. We will announce the funeral arrangements when we are informed by the family of the deceased.

The funeral service for Mr Tony Pavlou will be held on Monday 9th October 2023 @ 10:30am, at The Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Harehills Avenue, Leeds, LS8 4EU. The service will be followed by the wake in the Church Hall.

Tony loved nothing more than having his friends and family together so please join us on this day as we celebrate his life.

The burial will be at Haxby and Wigginton Cemetery, Moor Lane, Haxby, York, YO32 2NQ at around 2:30pm.

Funeral Announcement: A very much loved and respected member of our community, Mrs Eleni (Elle) Eleftheriou, wife of Kyriacos and mother to Michael, Andreas and Panicos passed away peacefully on 15th August 2023, aged 74. She was born on 21/03/49 in Piyi, Famagusta and lived in York.

The funeral service for Eleni will be held here on Friday, 1st September at 1 pm at The Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church Leeds. She will then be transported to Cyprus. A further service will be held at Panayia Faneromeni, Larnaca on Monday 4th September at 11:00am followed by her burial at Agios Georgios cemetery, Larnaca at 1:00pm.

St Leonard’s Hospice took exceptional care of Elle in her final weeks. Donations to the hospice, instead of flowers, would be greatly appreciated at stleonardshospice.org.uk. Alternatively there will be opportunity to donate on the day of the service.

May her memory be eternal.

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of one of our dearest community members, Mrs Eleni Constantinou. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday 14 June 2023, aged 84. Her funeral will be held on Monday 26 June 2023 at 2:30pm at our Church, The Three Hierarchs, Harehills Avenue, LS8 4EU. This will be followed by her burial at Lawnswood Cemetery, Otley Road, Adel, Leeds, LS16 6AH.

Eleni, together with her family, joined our community when they came to England in 1974, some nearly 50 years ago. Very shortly afterwards she joined the Ladies Committee where she remained an active member until last year.

She will be dearly missed as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister , aunt and dear friend.

God bless her and her family and may her memory be eternal.
