Light a Candle for Easter 2021

Following last year's popularity, we are launching our Easter 2021 light a candle campaign this Holy Week. We will happily light you a candle in our Church in Leeds during the Holy Week leading up to Greek Orthodox Easter, for anyone who requests it. Physical attendance to our Church is limited in numbers, as per government's social distancing restrictions.


We will light your candle at the beginning or during the Service. We will be broadcasting all our Easter services live; if you would like to watch them, please visit our page on:

All we ask is, if you are able, please donate to our fund in a similar way as you would donate in Church. This will create much needed funds so we can keep our Church and Community running to support our members, guests and friends during these unprecedented times.

Light a Candle in Memory of Presvytera Kalli Mantala-Bozos

Our greatly loved, respected and always smiling presvytera Kalli sadly lost the battle to Covid-19, and passed away on the 26th November 2020, aged 50.

Presvytera Kalli, our priest's Fr Stavros's beloved wife and partner of exactly 20 years, and mother of their four children (Panayiotis 17, Isidoros 15, Sevastiani 13, Nikolas 11), was also of great support to our Community, her extended family, as she felt it. It is a big loss for everyone.

Dr Kalli Mantala-Bozos studied Psychology (BA at the American College of Greece, MSc at Glasgow University and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Birmingham University under an NHS scholarship). She practised Psychology in Greece and the UK in both professional and voluntary capacity, and she was a chartered Psychologist since 2017. Her latest post was that of Senior Psychologist for the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Laura Mitchell Health and Well-being Centre, Halifax.

Presvytera Kalli was a kind-hearted and generous lady. She served the Church on a voluntary basis including Sunday-school and youth-club tutoring, also contributing significantly to the beautification of the Church ahead of great feasts. She was also there to chant, make prosfora and give a hand to the general upkeep of the Church buildings and grounds.

A keen volunteer, who did so much for our Community and the Church! She loved to get involved, did it humbly, without fuss, and always with a smile. Presvytera Kalli’s dedication and contribution to our Community certainly set the example!

Due to the social distancing rules, we are very restricted in paying our respects to her, therefore, this appeal was created in her memory as per her family's request.

Memory Eternal Our beloved Presvytera Kalli!

Η σεβαστή, αγαπημένη και χαμογελαστή πρεσβυτέρα μας Καλλή, δυστυχώς, έχασε τη μάχη με τον κορωνοϊό στις 26 Νοεμβρίου 2020, σε ηλικία 50 ετών.

Η πρεσβυτέρα μας, σύζυγος του ιερέα μας π. Σταύρου και μητέρα των τεσσάρων παιδιών τους (Παναγιώτης 17, Ισίδωρος 15, Σεβαστιανή 13, Νικόλας 11), υπήρξε, επίσης, σημαντικότατη βοηθός της Κοινότητάς μας, της "εκτεταμένης οικογένειάς" της, όπως την αισθανόταν. Η απώλειά της είναι μεγάλη για όλους.

Η Δρ Καλλή Μαντάλα-Μπόζου σπούδασε Ψυχολογία στο Αμερικανικό Κολλέγιο Αθηνών, στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Γλασκώβης και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Μπέρμινγχαμ με υποτροφία του Βρετανικού Εθνικού Συστήματος Υγείας. Άσκησε το επάγγελμά της σε Ελλάδα και Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο εθελοντικά και επί μισθώ. Ήταν Εγκεκριμένη Ψυχολόγος (Chartered Psychologist) από το 2017. Η τελευταία της έμμισθη θέση ήταν Ανώτερη Ψυχολόγος στο Νοσοκομείο του Νοτιοδυτικού Γιορκσιαρ στο Χάλιφαξ, κέντρο Laura Mitchell Health and Well-being.

Η πρεσβυτέρα μας ήταν άνθρωπος καλοσύνης και προσφοράς. Πρόσφερε εθελοντικά από τον πολύτιμο χρόνο της για τη διοργάνωση κατηχητικού (με φυσική παρουσία και εξ αποστάσεως), τον ευπρεπισμό του Ναού, και των πέριξ του Ναού χώρων. Επίσης έψαλλε και ζύμωνε πρόσφορα και άρτους.

Είχε τον εθελοντισμό στο αίμα της! Αγαπούσε να συμμετέχει ταπεινά και πάντα με το χαμόγελο! Η εθελοντική προσφορά της είναι ένα παράδειγμα για όλους!

Λόγω των μέτρων κοινωνικής απόστασης, αδυνατούμε να τής αποτίσουμε τον πρέποντα φόρο τιμής. Για το λόγο αυτό, κατά παράκληση και προτροπή της οικογένειάς της, απευθυνόμαστε σε όλους για την προσφορά "εις μνήμην" της οποιουδήποτε χρηματικού ποσού προς ενίσχυση των ευαγών σκοπών της Κοινότητάς μας.
